A.R. Ammons – Snow Poems inspired

9:45 a.m. – First Snow, She Naps

After studying snowflakes
I’m a devotee of winter,
small plumbed hexagons, the crystalline
substance, everything is about this
pointed water as manna littering dying grass
the tireless possibilities of salt
flecking possibilities of being, new
wash (cosh, bosh): periodicity
swirl, rotation, cycle cycle,
mash, blip, blur, wheesh:

It’s too quiet to write
accumulate, melt, wake the baby

to inaugurate light, to blue Tuesday.
